Why do I need a boiler service??

Carrying out a boiler service can help increase the life span of your boiler.

A boiler service should be carried out every 12 months. This is to ensure the boiler is operating safely and efficiently. A poorly maintained boiler can be deadly caused by Carbon Monoxide poisoning. A boiler service can also highlight any problems you may not be able to see. If these problems are rectified, it can save you from more costly repairs and boiler down time.

But my boiler is not very old?

Just because you have a fairly new boiler, it doesn't mean you should not maintain it.

Even if your boiler is only a few years old, it will still require a boiler service every 12 months. Maintaining your boiler is important for your safety and your wallet!!! Every boiler requires an annual service to keep the warranty validated, if you have had a new boiler fitted and not kept it regularly serviced, the boiler manufacturer will invalidate your warranty, meaning any repairs that may be required will not be covered and you will have to pay for them.

What happens on a boiler service?

A boiler service can highlight any potential problems you cannot see with the case on.

A boiler service should always be carried out to manufactures instructions, so the work involved will vary dependant on what boiler you have installed. As a minimum, a boiler service should consist of gas tightness test, measuring gas working pressure at appliance and meter, burner pressure, flue gas checks, condense trap checked and cleaned, expansion vessel check and re-pressurised if required & a general visual check of the appliance. Every boiler service is different and dependant on previous maintenance carried out.
