The cylinder stores hot water, so dependant on your property and usage, it will store as much hot water as you need. It also allows multi-use, meaning you can run multiple outlets at the same time.

Can I have a Unvented Hot Water Cylinder in my home?

A few little things to consider if you are thinking of having an unvented cylinder fitted in your home.

The single, most important to check is your cold water main. As an unvented cylinder runs directly off the cold water main, it is essential you have the correct pressure and flow rate. The cold mains pressure should be at least 1.5bar with a flow rate of around 20lpm. If these cannot be achieved, we would not recommend an unvented cylinder. Second most important is the cylinder location. From the cylinder is a discharge pipe and this needs to be terminated correctly and safely. This will all be checked on a thorough survey.

Are they dangerous?

Always ensure you use a G3 qualified engineer, like us, to fit your new unvented hot water cylinder.

If they are fitted incorrectly, then yes they can be extremely dangerous. In order to fit an unvented hot water cylinder you must hold a G3 qualification, all our engineers are G3 qualified. There are a number of safety features on the cylinder to keep you safe including expansion vessel, pressure relief valve, safety cut off on thermostat & a zone valve.
